AsiaRooms.com - Golf Fans to Check Out Dubai Desert Classic
Big-name golfers are set to compete in the event in February 2011.
DUBAI, UAE, January 05, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Some of the best golfers in the world will be heading to the UAE towards the start of next year to play in the 22nd Dubai Desert Classic.
The event is set to take place between February 10th and 13th 2011 at the prestigious Emirates Golf Club, with a whole host of big names likely to be battling it out for the $2.5 million (GBP1.6 million) prize pot.
Veteran Spanish star Miguel Angel Jiminez helped to provide ticketholders staying in Dubai hotels with a grandstand finish to the 2010 edition.
The 46-year-old golfer beat his Ryder Cup team-mate Lee Westwood in a three-hole playoff to become the oldest player to lift the trophy in Dubai since Mark O'Meara won in 2004 at the age of 47.
"I feel so proud to win this trophy. I like the golf course, I like the ambience and I like the people," Jiminez remarked after the victory.
People planning to watch the 2011 event, which is one of the three stops on the European Tour's Desert Swing, will no doubt be hoping for similar levels of excitement.
Prospective attendees can snap up tickets for the occasion now, with daily entry costing 175 UAE dirhams (GBP31).
Alternatively, season tickets allowing access between February 8th and 13th - including entry to a challenge match and pro-am tournament before the main spectacle - are available for 675 UAE dirhams.
