Keen golfers can take part in an amateur tournament during their stay in Thailand in July.


PHUKET, THAILAND, June 17, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anyone who fancies a bit of sporting competition while they are staying in accommodation in Phuket during July should check out the Phuket Amateur Open Golf.

The event, which kicks off on July 7th 2010 at Loch Palm Golf Club and is sponsored by the Phuket Gazette, aims to find the cream of the amateur golfers in the area.

It is part of a series of 11 tournaments of this nature which will take place around Phuket over the coming months. Anyone who finishes in either first or second place in one of the ten qualifying events will have to book more accommodation in Thailand for early next year as they will be invited to return to play in the Masters Championship.

The overall winner of this final event will then be crowned by the organisers of the Phuket Amateur Golf Open as the best amateur player in the region.

A total of 144 entry places are available for the July tournament, so anyone who is keen to show off their prowess from the tee, on the fairway or from the bunker should act quickly to guarantee their place.

During the course of the event, golfers will also have the chance to become only the ninth person this year to hit a hole in one on the Loch Palm course.
