DELRAY BEACH, FL, March 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach has been selected as the premier private golf venue of choice to host Florida Atlantic University's 2nd Annual Spring Break Collegiate Golf Championship on Thursday, March 25th through Saturday, March 28th 2010, on its pristine Legends Course. The public is invited to watch the tournament and support their favorite collegiate teams. Tickets are $10 per person and will exclusively benefit Florida Atlantic University's Golf Program.
Several Big Ten Conference squads are scheduled to play in this year's tournament including the No. 5-ranked Illinois team. Participating colleges include: Florida Atlantic University, Ohio State University, Michigan University, Penn State, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Florida Gulf Coast, St Mary's (Calif.), Marquette, Murray State and Notre Dame.
"We're planning for another exciting FAU Spring Break tournament this year at Gleneagles. Last year, over two hundred of our homeowners turned out to volunteer support for this superior tournament and exceptional collegiate golfers. This year, we're predicting even more. We're also looking forward to inviting the public to attend this year's tournament as this is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the nation's top collegiate golfers compete right here in South Florida," says Kraig Spina, General Manager.
FAU's golf team is currently ranked 122nd in the nation, up from 265th last year, making them the year's most improved team. This year's defending champions are The Fighting Illini, after finishing 14 strokes ahead of second-place Michigan in 2009.
