Randy Gene Westerham strives to build leadership skills in his students to give them the confidence to suceed
MINNETONKA, MN, December 15, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Randy Gene Westerham, Physical Education Teacher for Hopkins Public Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in physical education.
With 22 years of professional experience, Mr. Westerham specializes in outdoor adventure training. He is responsible for teaching 10th through 12th-grade students, preparing full fitness curriculum, teaching climbing, camping and canoeing, and conducting leadership and character building training. He also coaches the boys' golf team at Hopkins High School, one of the highest ranking schools in Minnesota that produces a high amount of national scholars annually. He became involved in his profession after doing volunteer work with Minnesota Special Olympics. He attributes his success to his empathy towards individuals with developmental disibilities.
Mr. Westerham received his Master of Arts in Special Education from Minnesota State University in Mankato in 1989. He is a member of the National Education Association and has volunteered for the Minnesota Special Olympics. In the future, he intends to have the "High Ropes" program take off and he would like to work on building a character leadership program.
