Rod Van Guilder, PGA Joins the Ranks of Leading Professionals
Rod Van Guilder has been nominated as the New England PGA's 2003 Teacher of the Year
GROTON, MA, October 20, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rod Van Guilder, Golf Professional and Trainer for the Groton Country Club, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in golfing.
As a golf professional and trainer at the Groton Country Club, Mr. Van Guilder is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of golf at the club, supervising the pro shop, teaching, selling and merchandising, coordinating junior golf programs and member tournaments, managing the golf cart fleet and preparing budgets. Before embarking on his golf career, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Command Sergeant Major and was stationed in Okinawa, the Philippines, Thailand, Germany, Hawaii and Turkey. He attributes his success to his honesty.
Mr. Van Guilder received his associate of arts from the University of Maryland in 1976. A certified PGA professional since 1994, he holds a certification in club repair and golf fitting from the New England PGA. He is a life member of the Association of the United States Army, the Non Commissioned Officers Association and the American Legion. Once nominated for a Teacher of the Year Award by the New England Section of the PGA, he has been named by the national PGA as one of the Top 100 Golf Teachers in America. He has been awarded the Legion of Merit and two bronze star medals by the United States Army. Mr. Van Guilder hopes to one day own his own golf store.
